Chapter 13 - Bambi
Eddy had thought carefully. He called in Bambi for a little chat.
"Do you remember that woman who was in here the other day? You and Marla witnessed the papers for her - Lisa Lovelace?"
Bambi spoke up perkily.
"Marla says that those were commital papers for an asylum. Wow! She seemed so, like, normal!"
Eddy blinked.
"I didn't know that lovely Marla was so observant."
Bambi nodded.
"Marla's really bright! She has a photographic memory. She can speed read, too - a whole page at a glance."
Eddy was amazed.
"I never suspected."
Poor, innocent Bambi was breezily informative.
"She plays the dumb bimbo really well. She keeps us girls in stitches sometimes. Marla's absolutely hilarious! She's working her way through university. She's almost a Phd in mathematics, you know!"
Eddy did his best to look delighted.
"No, I didn't know. How about you? Are you a genius in your spare time?"
Bambi laughed.
"No. I'm just a poor orphan, all alone, trying to make her way in the world. My family died in a car accident. I was the only one in the car to live. The orphanage was hard, but here I am!"
She sounded a little sad.
"I guess I'm a natural born survivor!"
Eddy exuded sympathy.
"Gee, that's tough!"
Then he was all business.
"I need you to deliver something. Could you send Marla in on your way out?"
"Sure."
Bambi smiled pleasantly, a happy airhead going unkowingly on a mission to hell...
