excellent and realistic story. As there is no real violence, I wonder if Sally somewhere in her she did enjoy it of not? (9/10)

A well written story that manages to sound fairly realistic, doesn't go for the cheap, clichéd solutions and uses good, clean language. What I liked was the psychological portrayal of the main character, the convincing depth of his persona, the train of thought leading towards the rape, the conflicting lust and guilt he experiences. Especially good ending. What I thought could be improved: the female character is barely there. Granted, it is very difficult to tell a story and not use (almost) any dialogue but as it is, the story is extremely main character-centric. Yes, it is told from the first person but I feel there was room for having Sally a bit more fleshed out. That would have made the story 'sexier' among other things. As Gary Wilcox points out, rape stories (and rape in general), when done good involve all sorts of motives and motivation that are thrilling to explore. In case of a victim it is often not just fear and hurt, but also guilt and uncertainty of their own 'role' in rape. I would have loved to have seen this explored a bit more here, especially with Sally being conquered rather easily (well, in my opinion anyway). Still, the fact that I can nitpick about these issues in my review confirms that this is in essence a very good story, writen in a mature way, with good language and some truly excellent qualities. Good work. (8/10)

Very well done account of a rape. It was written in a way that made it seem like a true account instead of the usual lurid, over-the-top story we see here. (8/10)

The only problems I have with this story are the lack of suitable motivation in the narrator, who seems indifferent at times to why he's raping her. There's usually rage and misogyny in rape, usually a laundry list justification for why this should happen. It ends all too soon, but the ending is a great one, really capturing that moment... I suggest taping people talking and listening to the gaps and dips for ideas on dialogue. (8/10)

Despite the less than graphic description of the rape, this is a depressing little story because it's so realistic. The writing is first rate, the build-up is well paced and what propels the antagonist to the act almost sounds believable. What got to me the most was the almost matter of fact description of the events and rationale leading up to the rape of his innocent neighbor. (8/10)
